Do you remember our class debate about success? Here is what Jenny Garrison (Kay Panabaker) says about success in the 2009 movie Fame. Does it make sense to you personally? Please, post your comments.
I must admit that these words make sense to me. No doubt, it is important to everyone to have a well-paid job, to be respected in society and to achieve a resounding success. However, these achievements may turn out badly, I do not claim that success, especially money, will spoil everyone but some people become rude, unfriendly and annoyed. On the other hand, if every person had everything he or she wants, so how would it be possible to enjoy life without trivial feelings. In my opinion, feelings and not very important things are making our life more interesting and fascinating. What is more, if a person does have true feelings, he or she is really successful. It's a great contentment to wake up in the morning, to see sunrays and just go out in the street and meet other people. All in all, real life and a possibility to feel everything is a resounding success.
I`m agree with these words. Because every day we overcome some obstacles, every day we come unstuck but but try to make a breakthrough, put a foot wrong but go from strength to strength!!! In view of this it doesn`t matter how reach we are and achieved resounding success or not. We wake up every day, we have a friends and someone to love, we have what to do and that`s why we are successful!!!
Modern world is built in such a way that resounding success and money play a great role in it. Frankly speaking, this issue is a tricky one. However, as the Jenny Garrison (Kay Panabaker) says: “There are some things success is not. It's not fame. It's not money or power.” Indeed, success can’t be measured only by material values. If a person has a goal and ambition he must achieve it. But of course there must be some mental contentment from going from strength to strength and overcoming the obstacle. I believe that excitement, joy and happiness will come only to those who can get to grips with the real meaning of success.
It goes without saying that success is of the utmost importance for everyone. Some people hold the view that it's about "joy, freedom, friendship and love", others are under impression that such thing as success is not achievable without money. I would agree with Jenny Garrison (Kay Panabaker) that "success means waking up in the morning so excited about what you have to do" and "it is getting to work with people you love". There is no doubt, people are on the cloud nine when they can do things they like, but today people are too addicted to money. Well-being ensures lots of things: respect, white-coloured job, magnificent life. That's why I can't almost agree with Jenny. Money play huge role for successful person in modern life. In my eyes success consists of human (friendship, love etc.) and material values. As one American journalist George Horace Lorimer said:"It's good to have money and the things that money can buy, but it's good, too, to check up once in a while and make sure that you haven't lost the things that money can't buy".
These words made a difference to me and I quite liked them. I maintain that money can't buy real happiness. Notwithstanding the fact that you can be loaded or have profitable job or resounding fame you can still be miserable because you haven't find those people that can be behind you. Of course if you were able to fulfil your potential or to come top or to make a breakthrough it would go a long way. I can call such things success, but trivial one. As far as I'm concerned it isn't tantamount to happiness that can bring our nearest and dearest. People who managed to make a go of marriage, who brought up wonderful kids, who passed the exams with flying coloures are successful indeed. Happiness and success not always are measured by the amount of your profit. It can also be measured by the amount of people you help or the amount of problem you solved. To be succesful means to be industrious, to be smart and to know how to enjoy simple things.
Well, I am totally agree with these words. It does not matter whether you have money or not, your name is among the richest or not, you have a yacht or not, you are well-known throughout the world or not. All this staff is just a big fake. The true success is when you get home and you realise that you are waited here, you are loved here; and you have a strong wish to work because you love your job. And there is no key to success but only few rules:earn to live, don't live to earn; keep a balance with your personal and professional life; be happy for what you have, don't mourn for what you don't. And as a conclusion, the quote of Albert Schweitzer: Success is not the key to happiness. Happiness is the key to success. If you love what you are doing, you will be successful.
Everyone wants to become a successful person but usually we don’t know exactly what does it mean. One can put his fingers to the bone and not put a foot wrong in doing anything, overcome obstacles and finally realize that he is not happy. Jenny Garrison (Kay Panabaker) expressed the idea that happiness isn’t always mean resounding success, money and popularity. It is something that you love or keen on. Success in every detail. So, if you think that you can’t find a secret of success, just look around. Simple things that you already have can be something you are searching for.
Jenny Garrison gave simple answer for one of the most difficult quastions. It is so simple, that it seems to be unreal. We just have to see stars in a puddle. We must appreciate every day, every hour, every minute and every second of our life. Because to live means being already happy . Happiness is a simple things like favourite job, nearest and dearest people around. So when we learn to appreciate all this things, we`ll become really successful......
This episode is really touching, because it makes us understand that success is not something that we can determine in terms of money, but that it implies moral values. True success is being involved in the sphere, which you enjoy and being surrounded by affectionate people. I think that when a person comes to realize this, then she or he can become really successful and contented.
The melody, we listened on the last class was an amazing. It was "August" by Vivaldy and it was owerwhelmed with different emotions. It was so pashionate and I was just captivated by this musik. It appealed to my feelings and I really enjoyed listening it. Every sound of nature was shown in a harmony with the music. At first it was something desparate and powerfull, like a storm at the augest night. Than something vulnerable and uneasy. While listening it I wanted to pour everything I felt out and to feel that freedom, which I heard in that melody.
I can't agree more that success is not money, power or fame...it's just simple things which we often ignore chasing the resounding success and trying to fulfil our potential - sunlight, singing of the birds, gentle wind...our family relationships, freedom, love, friendship...The secret of our success is inside us...We just should be very careful to find it and to be able to appreciate what we have regardless of what is happening around us. I'm convinced that with such positive attitude we'll succeed in dealing with all obstacles confronting us. It reminded me one video where success is defined as a "peace of mind attained only through self-satisfaction in knowing you made the effort to do the best of which you are capable"...if someone is interested to watch it, here's a link: http://www.ted.com/talks/john_wooden_on_the_difference_between_winning_and_success.html

ReplyDeleteYes, once you have faced the challenge and overcame it, you should be deemed successful no matter how rich you are :)

ReplyDeleteYes, success is multi-faced. I mean it consists of many parts and the question is which of them should be made prominent.

ReplyDeleteYes, sometimes people who can't be called successful in the literal sense are happier than others. They have found their path to happiness.

ReplyDeleteMariika, I can't agree more! Simply to live is already a sucess in our world fraught with danger, poor ecology, and wars.
